It seriously angers me. I love my family dearly and any deity that would threaten my access to my family for ANY reason is a bully and a jerk and unworthy of any devotion.

And so I've often said.

For me the Bishop used the loyalty commitment guilt trip.

For my wife he used the family, playing on the loss of her parents who we did temple work for, telling her she was giving up her children, telling her that our marriage would be forfeit.

I felt bad for the Bishop...he tried so hard to make her cry, but he failed, and she had to bite her lip to keep from laughing. He must've been beside himself with remorse over not making a woman break down in tears.
