Where in the Bible is human sacrifice? This guy heard voices telling him to kill people and chop them up. That would be in the Book of Mormon, when Laban had the bad luck of being around when Nephi's psychosis flared up.
Canaan included religions that engaged in human sacrifice, including to Ba'al and Molech. The Hebrews differentiated from that substrate, so they would have been familiar with the practice and probably engaged in it themselves--or at least had Canaanite ancestors who had. That's what the Abraham's sacrifice meant: the patriarch lived in a context in which such things were conceivable if not familiar, and Elohim (note the identity of "El" and the "Al" in Ba'al as well as in the later Allah) took the opportunity to instruct his followers not to perform such rites. That was the point at which the Hebrews definitively turned against their neighbor's religions.
Sacrifice also explains why the worshipers of Asherah in the groves were constantly condemned by the emerging Hebrew cult, why the struggle against the Goddess never ended. Who were those barbarians? The Hebrews's friends and relatives. Human sacrifice is the background for the entire Bible and Jesus was the (human) sacrifice that was the end of the law.
