That's a wonderful article which taught me a lot. Even for empathetic people (and over-empathetic people like me ;-), the experience of autism "from the inside" is, ultimately, out of reach.
With most "neurotypicals", I know they're more or less like me for the most part. So I have an idea of what they're feeling and how they're interpreting what's going on, and it can be very useful, but with autism in the equation, all that falls down - and I suspect that sends us into spirals of misinterpretation and judgement.
