For centuries, the location, and even existence, of the "cities of the plain" as based on mere speculation, and hence easily dismissed by skeptics (know any?). But recent finds appear to have located the cities, with strong evidence of a fiery, cataclysmic event. Now like the "Jesus ossuary" and other finds, scientists of different fields will examine, study, and conclude, many with their predilections to believe; and many, not.
At this early stage of things, the findings seem to support the Biblical record.
Tevai especially will be fascinated.
"As a matter of fact, one of the leading archaeologists from Jordan stated: ‘This is perhaps the most important archaeological discovery of the modern era.’”

Diamond-like carbon, melted construction materials, melted pottery, melted mudbricks, high-pressure shocked quartz, high-temperature melted minerals, melted nuggets of iridium, and many other metals in melt glass were found. All these show evidence of reaching temperatures greater than 1300 °C, with brief exposure to temperatures as high as 2500 °C, the melting point of Iridium."
https://aish.com/archaeology-and-the-destruction-of-sodom/“Two of our osteologists, Dr. John Leslie, PhD, MD, and Dr. John Moore, PhD, DDS, looked over the bones. The area they concentrated on was the bottom half of the body, including the pelvis region, legs, and feet—the upper portions on two of them were missing. The initial results were amazing and quite exciting archaeologically—but sad in how the people died. They found the bodies splayed out, face down, joints twisted, toes hyper-extended, with many signs of violent burial within collapsing debris. In short, the bodies were extremely traumatized in their death.
"...blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
