No mention of baby daddy.

Single moms are seen differently in Mormonism. Maybe the prof didn't want a little hussy in his class.

This is progress.

As someone who has lived through decades of this kind of progress (for all kinds of things: gender; race, ethnicity, religion, self-identification issues) it is very good to see that progress occurs and evolves in Utah, too.

The suggestion from the school has nothing to do with religion. SLCC is in no way affiliated with or influenced by the LDS church or its values. I currently teach at UVU, and have taught at SLCC. The school is expected to make reasonable accommodations. A student who is not able for whatever reasons to adequately participate in class expectations should consider adjustments to his or her class load. It happens all the time. While newsworthy, this development warrants further information before judgement is cast.

Usually it is possible to be rated as "Incomplete" for a class if there are compelling reasons (other than lack of interest). I presume that this is still an option for this student. But most college instructors have to strike a balance between imparting the information and accommodating students' individual circumstances. That's my opinion, anyway.

You are correct, it has nothing to do with religion.

SLCC was found to have violated federal law by engaging in pregnancy discrimination and not making an attempt to create an accommodation

I never said nor implied this action from SLCC was religious or connected to LDS.
But, with SLC and most of UT being run/controlled by or, at least, heavily influenced by LDS or its minions, I thought the underlying moral connection was still applicable to the board.
