Look what happened to this Lot's Wife!

"I found myself stuck in a pattern of looking back, much like Lot’s wife, Laman and Lemuel, and the children of Israel."

Yikes, my secret is revealed!

But I ask you, does that story compare to the awesome imagery of the original?

Sadly, I know nothing about California. As you can tell from this Nuremburg Chronicle illustration, I've been stuck at home for a very long time.

Nauvoowinery.com

I'm all for enjoying some vino from the oldest winery in Illinois. That be in Nauvoo. There was nothing in Nauvoo when I visited in 1978. We couldn't even find a place to take a piss and get something to eat. We went to Carthage for that. Then we checked out the blood stains and bullet holes at the jail.

When I visited Nauvoo there was a lot of looking back into history by the perky missionary sisters. Their looking back was all through rose colored glasses. No mention of polygamy, destroyed printing presses, Danites or any other of those little flecks of history.

I found Nauvoo extremely boring. They were only there 7 years. They built brick houses so that’s why there is anything there at all. The Community of Christ managed to keep the Smith estate in good order but the rest of the town was pretty rough until LDS Inc. in Utah started dumping money on the place. Now it’s Nauvooland. Come see a sanitized for your protection His-Story of 1840’s Mormon Illinois.

Old house preservation, which started with the Kimballs when they restored a home in the 1950s, then other families began building the place up again, the Kimball went so far as to rebuild Hebers mansion in salt lake this is the place, the central figure is a 12' portrait of 'brighams prophet' in a gold frame. Imagine the ego, I think about those poverty stricken immigrants and when they arrived they are confronted with priestcraft and inequality in Zion

Heber C Kimball was a piece of work. The Atlantic interviewed him in 1863 in Salt Lake City and he was bragging that all the men back east would kill each other in the Civil War and their women would come to Utah seeking help and the Mormon men would get their women. The reporter said he wanted to punch Brother Kimball in the face but in Utah that wouldn’t be a good idea.

Thank goodness he was just bragging, and not prophesying...

Wasn't it Heber who complained that the Mormon missionaries in Europe were getting first pick of the female converts instead of sending them to church headquarters where the leaders could have first pick?
