https://www.salon.com/2022/07/29/great-salt-lake-evaporating-climate-change/

I really used to love it out there (hence my alias). Once I even took Gerritt Gong's sister out for a sail (I think she was his sister- had the same last name, and the home towns and ages line up). Now you can literally drive your car down the launching ramp and park you car where they used to park the boats. And they want to divert even the last trickles to make big green lawns.

Like the man said: only when the last tree is cut down, the last fish caught and the last stream poisoned will some people realize that you can't eat money.

You could try sailing down the Las Vegas strip.

Lots and lots of water on the Chesapeake Bay. :) I'm sorry about the Great Salt Lake.

In fact the water that used to be in the Great Salt Lake is ending up in Chesapeake Bay. Not in one step, but it is all moving away from us.

That was so long ago. Sorry- no pics. Did you have a boat on the GSL?

It’s no longer the Great Salt Lake. It’s less than a third of the size it was when I was going to BYU in the mid 80’s.

Got rid of my kayak last year when we moved to Roy. So many good memories, especially sailing in Gilbert Bay and kayaking around the north end of Antelope Island.

Cuz X

Know the loss. Sailed several times on the SL on a friend's boat. Amazingly peaceful and yet in view of the noise of the city.

Visited family in Roy this week.

Wife had never seen the GSL. Took a trip to Antelope Island, saw lots of buffalo and even saw an antelope.

Wife was amazed at the number and sizes of the beaches along the few patches of water.

Plenty warm out there, but then we are having a heat wave here in the Pacific Northwest.
