I have heard the song before. It's called "Comfortably Numb." But this time as I listened it today my mind went to think about the saints today in Church that go to meetings on Sunday. They sit through (and I confess at times I sit like that too) meetings on Sunday saying little and have very little interaction between and after meetings with each other.
The same with temple sessions. Now the content is shortened up even more, and the content watered down. Very few people even discuss their experiences other than to say "that was nice." Trying to get members to really discuss conference talks when presented as talks in SM or lessons in Elder's and RS meeting other than agreeing what the speaker said is the norm.
In my travels, it seems the wards I visit when out of town and have nothing to do Sundays as made up of older members now. The energy levels of the wards seem to be low. Even the leadership conducting the meetings seems to be non motivating.
So it was interesting to hear this song in a different light.

There are no bad reasons to listen to Pink Floyd. Other PF songs could also apply to the church:

"Us and Them" – tribal identity
"Time" – wasting years doing nonessential (church) stuff
"Money" – greed and prosperity worship
"Welcome to the Machine" – here are your church assignments
"Brain Damage" – too much indoctrination

This is just off the top of my head, I'm sure there are others.

Additionally,

"Learning to Fly" - Help Others Feel and Recognize the Spirit
"Another Brick in the Wall" - Sheeple bah ha ha ha
"On the Turning Away" - Shut up fall in line soldier, we own you!
"Have a Cigar" - Holier than thou corporate ladder climbing

A contemporary Mormon will have heard everything you need to know about current Mormon theology and practice by the age of 8 or 10. After that, it is just hearing the same damn points over and over and over.

It is nearly impossible to have any realistic discussion, because everyone knows what the church-approved answer is, and that answer must be given. Try to imagine a realistic discussion of how tithing should be viewed in light of the $100 billion Ensign Peak fund.

Sounds like members have been well conditioned to stay quiet while the church lessons are read verbatim.

And the worms eat into their brains followed by a hymn.

And then there's that Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz thing.

“Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying.”

That describes many meetings I attended, though I suppose it was more “don’t hear” than “can’t hear.”

I always thought like "Comfortably Numb" was about autism... or being isolated. Killer guitar solo although their Syd Barrett stuff is better.

I believe it’s about Syd Barrett’s deteriorating mental health. He was needing increasingly stronger drugs to go on stage.

"Coming Back To Life" is one of my favorites.

One of mine too. I heard the live version in a club in India years ago and found a gently used copy of "Pulse" in a record store for about $5 US and bought it just for that song.

I've been thinking about playing "Breathe" with my band, but I think we'll learn "Coming Back to life" first.

These lyrics from "Coming Back To Life" struck a personal chord in me; I was a long time getting over a girl who was "waiting" for me until I came home six months early totally disillusioned with Mormonism:

"Where were you when I was burned and broken?
While the days slipped by from my window watching
And where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless?
'Cause the things you say and the things you do surround me
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
Dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun..."
