https://news.yahoo.com/marie-osmond-says-mustard-stay-healthy-175246904.html

"How to stay healthy on the road. My doctor said in case there's like parasites or anything around, this is how to stay healthy and I'm not joking. One tablespoon a day," she said before squirting the liquid into her mouth.
-------------------------

I must have missed this in D&C 89. Or is it one of the "new & improved/you ain't seen Nothin'yet" Nelson revelations?

I love mustard, it's even my fry sauce, but I'd prefer Heinz to Frenchs.

You have to know the type of parasite you have in order to choose the appropriate remedy. In terms of prevention, I highly doubt there is one substance that would be effective against all parasites.

Not to mention the issue of untrained people giving medical advice.

Years ago, a few friends and I hosted a newcomer to a late supper after an AA meeting. While we were looking at the menus, he picked up a spoon and ate the entire contents of a jar of pub-style mustard! "I just love this stuff," he explained.

The waiter replaced the consumed jar. He ate that one, too.

The 2d Step says, "Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity." I guess he hadn't advanced to that one yet.

Seriously, the world is full of outliers: 95-year-olds who smoke Lucky straights, the high-performing athlete with a peculiar diet regimen (think: Brady), 68-year-old Marathon runner who takes an aspirin every day... Ms. Osmond's routine explains nothing.

PS Speaking of Tom Brady, for whom I have a genuine respect, I was checking out a financial advisory service several years ago. The founder & CEO came into my meeting with an advisor and delivered a box of Brady's wares ("the TB12 Diet"). I was told that both of them, and several others, were serious believers in the product line. I marked that as one count (of a few others) against employing this firm, and proceeded no further.
A year later that CEO dropped dead at 65. Maybe he bought the package that didn't include the sacred anointing oil?

I should get mustard from Costco before the local Mormons clean them out.

I don't think my GI tract would be happy with me if I did that to it every day.

That's one thing my mission did for me. I loved brown mustard once I got used to it plus I started using Mayo on fries or pommes friets.

Right. It's Catholics who don't believe in using condiments.

I used to work on antimicrobial drug development projects.
Mustard does contain molecules that are converted to isothiocyanates in your digestive tract that have anti microbial properties in vitro. It would take a heck of a lot of mustard to guard against intestinal parasites. If the compounds were actually effective in vivo, pharmaceutical companies would have patented them long ago.

The nasty man in me thinks there’s something else that will help her stay healthy but it doesn’t squirt from a bottle.
