If they know about the money,($150 - $200 Billion) they surely know they don't need any more. Why do they keep preaching "pay your tithing first".

Is it about control? Obedience? Do they get a commission? Why is it their first and most important instruction to the flock?

I'm sure that the church's fearless leaders are wondering about some of these issues...

But what can they do?  It's up to ghawd to make changes, and so far ghawd has said nothing.  So what's a GA to do?  ...Other than thank ghawd for direct deposits.

It takes some hard core cognitive dissonance to square in your mind that your church hoards obscene amounts of money and Jesus said to give all you have to the poor.

Of course they have it covered. First they will say not to worry if you give because God will provide- just have faith. Then OTOH they will say God only helps those who help themselves.

Jesus the shepherd is always there to fleece the sheep.

She's so fine. There's no telling where the money went.

Has it not been said, that money is the root of all evil.

Supposedly a distinction can be made; it's not strictly the money, but rather the love of money, that is the root of some evil.

Other evils are based on the love of dominance, the love of laughter, the love of indolence, the love of Ford Fiestas, the love of doe-eyed sheep, etc. ...  The list may be endless!

How the church runs is the tithing money pays the overhead of running the church. Before COVID the church would usually have a $1 billion to $2 billion extra and this would go into various investments.

What the church has done is take the tithing money that doesn't go towards the overhead of the church and it's invested it. It's done well and those investments are diversified into companies the church runs or into owning equities/bonds or sitting in cash.

As far as humanitarian aid goes the church really isn't that big of a player if you look at what they are worth. $40 million to the UN for poverty relief looks impressive but it's a drop in the church's bucket. The church is more about process. Going to meetings, performing ordinances, talking and listening in the echo chamber and marrying and fucking each other to keep the whole thing going. Mormons tend to be disciplined and have a work ethic. Those two things alone are a big factor in being successful and the church gets 10%. It is what it is.

"Panattoni and Link Logistics purchased the 42-acre site from The Boeing Co. for $60 million in early 2020."

God said it was a great deal at $260 million so they bought it. Having a Celestial Room sometimes pays off.

If the church relaxed the 10% rule, they would never get it back. My best guess is that church leaders are operating on a sort of poverty mentality. They are hoarding in anticipation of tough times. When is enough, enough? I guess we should ask the truly rich of this world the same question.

If tithing were to cease, how would members receive blessings? How can they tell stories of how they paid their last dollar to LDS Inc for tithing and then had the blessing of a new job or a salary increase? Maybe it's not so much the tithing that is important but the "blessings" that are imagined to be connected to the tithing.

The church is a prosperity gospel....obey and pay and you will prosper monetarily.

Same thing from the bottom to the top. The $100 B+ is prosperity at the top.
