I didn't know, so I looked before I posted. I found it three different ways (we, me, and I). Searching for "official" lyrics, I found "we" which is why I picked we. I found sheet music using "I." I'm pretty sure when he sings it, it's "me." So I give up caring too.
As long as we are talking in this thread about people who died, there is one recent death of a horrible person. I won't give her name but will give honor instead to Emmitt Till and his mother. She ruined their lives in a horrendous way and got away with it.
What really stirred me was the defendants' admission after being found Not Guilty by a jury of their (obviously) peers, to a reporter, "Uh-huh, eh-yup, we done did it, uh-huh, uh-huh!!"
