"Ammon Bundy was arrested Friday night by the Gem County Sheriff's Office on a warrant for contempt charges during a legal battle with St. Luke's Health System. According to a video obtained by KTVB, Bundy was arrested at an Emmett High School football fundraiser.

Records at the Gem County Jail show that he was arrested for a contempt charge out of Ada County. He will have an option of bonding out at a $10,000 bond. If he does not bond out, he will be held in the jail over the weekend, speak with a judge Monday morning and then be transported to the Ada County Jail within 24-48 hours of when they schedule a hearing.

If Bundy does bond out, Ada County will set a court date."

Only $10K? His supporters can easily raise that amount. Who wants to bet that he'll bond out and then blow off his court date, starting the whole tedious process over again?

As an aside, it doesn't look like Ammon has been missing many meals of late.

Once he's convicted, God will see the light and tell his apostles to expunge Bundy's membership.

I agree with L.A. Exmo. $10,000 is a laughably low bail for him.

I wonder...

Did he venture out to the local High School football fundraiser because he felt cooped up?
Did he feel that was a safe place to be viewed as a good guy hero for the fundraiser?
Did he know ahead of time that his bail would be so low that his groupies could raise it easily if needed?

Why do I feel like he will be back to his old tricks in no time?

Wasn't it last football season that Bundy was kicked off the campus during a football game, refused to leave and caused his sons team to forfeit the game and not make the playoffs?

Even if convicted he won't be Ex'ed. He has not murdered anyone.(lately?)

I had forgotten about that. Maybe the only thing that happens in his town is an occasional school football game!

https://www.eastidahonews.com/2023/08/seeking-jury-awarded-damages-from-bundy-st-lukes-lawsuit-alleges-sham-transaction/

"St. Luke’s has filed a new lawsuit against Ammon Bundy that accuses him of hiding assets to “frustrate” collection efforts by the health care system and other plaintiffs, who won a defamation case against Bundy and other defendants.

In the 22-page complaint, which was provided to the Idaho Statesman by St. Luke’s attorneys, the plaintiffs are asking the 3rd Judicial District to void any transfers of property or assets made by Bundy and his wife, including the sale of their 5-acre 4,760-square-foot Emmett home, which St. Luke’s claims was done to avoid paying millions in damages.

In a separate filing, St. Luke’s also asked the court to issue a temporary restraining order to prevent Bundy from trying to hinder the plaintiffs from collecting court-ordered damages. The plaintiffs are seeking an order that would prevent the defendants — including Bundy’s wife, Lisa Bundy — from making any further transfers, sales or conveyances of property they own.

The memo also asks that Bundy is prevented from transferring ownership or assets of any of his entities, including the People’s Rights Network and Bundy’s political organization.

The health care system in its memo called the sale a “sham transaction” and said Bundy made public statements after selling his home that he did so in order to hide his assets.

The roughly $1 million home’s title was transferred to Welling on Dec. 5, and in exchange Welling paid the Bundys $250,000, which was later reimbursed through a bank loan, according to the memo. The Bundys — who still live on the property — then entered into a “very favorable lease agreement” and are paying minimal rent, the memo said.

St. Luke’s said Bundy’s public statements acknowledged that he “disposed of assets, including selling his home, to protect his assets,” and the legal filings called the home transaction a “casebook example” of a fraudulent transfer.

Stidham told the Statesman that Bundy “owes for the damages caused by his lies and his grift for money and publicity. Now, Mr. Bundy is acting to hinder collection on the judgment. In fact, Mr. Bundy has been making statements in videos that he will call in his supporters to thwart collection of the judgment against him.

“Without shame, Mr. Bundy is recruiting his followers to be his protection in a stand-off to preserve the monies he has made off his grifts, which primarily targeted the same followers he now implores to protect him from accountability — a grifter standoff using those he grifted as human shields.”

Ah, fake transactions to hide his assets. How Mormon of him. I wonder if he hired Ensign Peak Advisors as financial consultants?

And yes, I’m implying that LDS leadership and the Ammon Bundy wing of the church are not as far apart as we might hope.

https://www.kivitv.com/news/fraud-case-against-ammon-bundy-underway-in-gem-county

"EMMETT, Idaho — Ammon Bundy's new fraud case got underway in Gem County on Monday. Bundy was not in attendance.

The hearing focused on Bundy's statements about moving property and taking steps to transfer property, with the plaintiff alleging that the moves were made to avoid payments on the civil judgment made against him in July."

"Late in the afternoon questions surrounded Bundy's cryptocurrency assets and other properties that are said to be under Bundy's ownership.

After hearing closing statements, the judge extended the temporary restraining order with a slight modification, barring Bundy from selling or transferring his property, and advised the court that he would make a decision next week."

"Ada County District Judge Nancy Baskin granted St. Luke's ask for a permanent injunction against Bundy, his People's Rights Network organization, Rodriguez and Rodriguez' Freedom Man Press. She also ordered them to take down all defamatory videos and posts they've made over the past year and a half that have repeatedly spread disinformation and intimidated hospital staff."

How well is that going to work?

I believe court awards aren’t subject to bankruptcy…

I wonder if Bundy cashed his ‘Covid stimulus checks’…

I asked Google:

"Bankruptcy can help wipe out judgments for a majority of lawsuits, including those stemming from personal loans, credit card debts, medical bills, and more."

I have zero expertise in this field, so take Google's analysis with a grain of saltwater taffy.

Perhaps the debt, but I’m thinking not a contempt judgment.

You wrote "court award" ...

A finding of contempt against a party (and technically, the winning party can commit contempt of court)

"... may result from a failure to obey a lawful order of a court, showing disrespect for the judge, disruption of the proceedings through poor behavior, or publication of material or non-disclosure of material, which in doing so is deemed likely to jeopardize a fair trial.

"A judge may impose sanctions such as a fine, jail, or social service for someone found guilty of contempt of court, which makes contempt of court a process crime."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contempt_of_court

And yes, if Ammon Eggs is ever fined money due to contempt of court, that fine is not likely to be discharged via bankruptcy, but that money goes to the court, not to the other party to the action.

On the Twitter and reddit forums, comments and reactions by the folks witnessing and reading about the arrest at the fund raiser event are startling! You'd think it was Jesus himself being arrested.

"Out-ray-jus! This is Amur'ca, gol-darn it!"

If Bundy declares bankrupcy, his assets will be inventoryed and bankruptcy court will make a determination as to their disposition, not just blindly - automatically erase - make the debts disappear.

Supposing that he engages an attorney who will risk representing him in bankruptcy (dubious at best bc of B's conduct), court fees aren't often waived, AND if he's associated with unpaid grazing fees (same Bundy?), those could be considered also

Bundy & ChurchCo: Same Problem;

those in charge refuse to be accountable- responsible for their mistakes..
