Daughters of Pioneers monuments

I was talking with some kids, a good half century younger than me, about local history.

I said there was a monument where such n such happened and someone told me it had been removed.

Used to be every town had one or two plaques mounted on rock monuments erected by the Daughters of a pioneers.

Anyone else notice this?

It might make sense given the church's great reluctance to let women run anything or even appear important. Perhaps the DoP were victims of correlation.

You might be on to something. The plaque(s) may have contained the dreaded word, "Mormon," provoking distress in the faithful.

Some claim he was most of his life Without ... as if that matters.
