"The Book of a Mormon" by Scott Miller chronicles his strange missionary experiences in Sweden with a prick of a Mission President. Scott Miller is currently a practicing psychologist and ex-mo.

I have read many, may books on LDS missions but I must say that this one is the absolute best. Although I served my tour of duty in Holland, not Sweden, his narrative of events very closely approximated my own.

Everything is included -- probing interviews, anti-Mormon literature, Lucifer, homosexuality, the numbing boredom of missionary work, the goofiness of the temple, the hypocrisy of TSCC, mind control, blacks and the priesthood, etc.

I cannot recommend this book strongly enough. By the way, it can be borrowed for free on Kindle if you have an Amazon Prime account. The paperback version costs $12.99.

If you want to do something to discourage kids from going on missions, this is the book to give them.

I prefer Mark Twains review: The Book of Mormon is chloroform in print.

This memoir is not about The Book of Mormon at all, but is about a missionary's loss of faith while on his mission.

The author also describes the "unrighteous dominion" of his abusive Mission President.

I have read a bunch of these books, and I agree..this one is the best. I thought it was a fantastic read, everyone who wants to know what a mission is really like, especially TBM moms who are sending their kids out on missions, should read this first.

Want to know what a mission is really like? this is the book.

Most TBMs only know missions from the 15 minute homecoming talk given by all RM's. This is much more better.

Great true story of talent and redemption. I was either laughing or weeping but I was always thoroughly enchanted. The book follows the remarkable life and talents of the good-hearted Russ Swain. From boyhood on, Russ in true Mormon spirit regularly tries to fix troubles or debts, with his great artistic gift, even forging his mom’s signature to cover a few days off of school! His knack for forgery only grows, and later he even has the FBI in awe of his near perfect twenty dollar bills. As he skirts the legal world, and even befriends it, in this magical memoir Russ shares the amazing how and why and what of his work: you'll learn about the secret ingredient , ‘Diamond Dust’! And the ‘who’ makes for a fun cast of characters, some of the crooks and some of the cops. Always the Mormon community is there to support him, love him and forgive him. The artistic adventure that is Russ’s life and story is well supported in his story by co-writer, the very gifted Michael McKinley (Who co-write the brilliant memoir of hockey great Willie O’Ree: Willie: The Game Changing Story of the NHL’s First Black Player). Buy it on Amazon!
