I am watching "A friend of the family" on Amazon. It is about 2 Mormon families who become friends. The Mormon mind set (brain washing) is portrait so accurately.
The harrowing true story of the Broberg family, whose young daughter Jan was kidnapped multiple times in the 1970s by a charismatic, obsessed family "friend." Devoted to their faith, family and community, the Brobergs were unprepared for the sophisticated tactics their neighbor used to exploit their vulnerabilities, drive them apart and turn their daughter against them, permanently altering their lives. And while many are apt to place blame on the parents, Jan Broberg Felt came to their defense in 2019 when she tweeted, "...my parents saved my life. They're the bravest people I know, willing to try to help the rest of you see what they didn't. That is the only reason we told our story."
This was discussed here 2 years ago (including by EOD who saw the film then) and 5 years ago. A search on “broberg” will find the old threads.
I’m glad you added the second post with a more detailed description. Describing it as “two Mormon families who became friends” is like describing the Holocaust as a program designed to reduce overcrowding in Jewish ghettos. Your second post gave the real story. It was horrific indeed.
