OT: a question for any "Game of Thrones" watchers out there

So Stark heads out with Baratheron to King's Landing to assume his new duties. The two of them have their little backstory-filling conversation over dinner, and then... bing! They're back in Winterfell to deal with the kids and dogs. Huh? Did I miss something?

I wondered that too!! Just like the Borgias started up last night and I thought maybe I missed an episode. (before I realized it was a dream sequence)

Mutt, there are not back at Winterfell....

The scene with Arya play-fighting with the butcher's boy and all that ensues with Joffrey and the dog ... this happens during a stopover at an inn on the way to King's Landing.

This is not clear in the HBO show but I have the book in .pdf format and I checked.

The HBO series is okay, but the books are x20 better - well worth the read.
