I don't remember where I read this. What I recall is that Stanford was set to play BYU in a PAC 10 game in 1978 but Stanford refused to play BYU because there were no black players on BYU's team and because of the morg's racist policies and indoctrination. This was still somewhat early civil rights era.

Suddenly, there was a "revelation" and blacks were allowed into the priesthhood.

I think there was a direct correlation. Anybody remember?

I think it had more to do with the Fed threatening to take away the kolobians' "tax exempt" status... but who can really know...

I think there were a lot of things which caused the "revelation," but its certainly possible that the football boycott was the tipping point.
