Same iron doctrine in a nice new velvet glove:

Meh.
I'll be impressed when they admit that there's nothing to forgive if a woman makes the difficult decision to have an abortion.
Until then...not so much.

I with kolob on this one.

This is no more than a passive aggressive bitch slap to all those who agonized over such a life altering decision.

God forgives you is the last thing someone is looking for when they already have spent so much emotional energy deciding that it was the right thing to do.

Organized religion makes progress super slow, with MORmONism trailing behind trying to run in the other direction.

Until and unless you've been in that position you can't say whether &God's forgiveness is something that would benefit the woman or not. If she finds personal peace from it then no-one else should judge that.

Been there got the T-shirt complete with disciplinary council.

Just think of all the women who lived and died in shame and guilt, brainwashed to think the Church got a say in her life.

Now they (the Church) change their mind on forgiveness. How do they pay for the pain they caused to the women they didn't decide should be forgiven in the past? They don't. They continue to damage people with no accountability or responsibility century after century.

They actually think this is showing "mercy" to women by making rules about them! It's sick! Women, you do not need some male-run institution to tell you what your god thinks of you. Stop empowering these men to tell you what decisions to make about your body. You are nothing but vessels to make more Catholics.

I say that the Catholic policies have caused more abortions because of their stance on birth control.

You know how Mormon women say they are "happy" being subject to the Priesthood? Well, the Catholics are pros at this too. They create the disease and then insist you go to them for the cure. Lucky you. The man in the pointy hat had deemed you are good enough to be forgiven for your GRAVE sin. Sheesh, people. These are the men who forgive each other for child abuse and they think they are all magnanimous to decide if a woman is forgiven.

So if a woman had an abortion thirty years ago, and then died just last month, she would go to eternal hell? But now that women can be forgive, all is good? How fair is that?

Not only that, if she was actually indoctrinated and took that crap seriously, imagine how she felt knowing her fate. Catholic Hell was designed for the upmost control and fear.
