COJCOLDS has decided that enough years have passed (about 10) since Eyring prophesied that there would be a big revival of church membership in the Olympus Cove stakes that the members have most likely forgotten about it.

This coming Sunday, There will be a joint meeting of the Mt Olympus Stake and the Mt Olympus North Stake to announce that the two stakes and 11 wards are going to be consolidated into 1 stake and 5 or 6 wards. (pretty small wards at that) I wonder how long it will be before they have to retrench again by combining this consolidated stake in Olympus Cove with a couple of stakes from just below the Boulevard?

The meeting to consolidate the stakes will be held during the afternoon of Saturday 21 May 2008

Do the 2 existing stake presidents have to Rock/Paper/Scissors to see who has to continue on in the new stake, or do both get to make a clean break as they lasso some other poor schmuck for the job.

I suspect they have selected someone (aka "poor schmuck") not previously blessed to have the mantle of the Stake Presidency. You know, "A new Presidency, for a new beginning:" Mormonism's equivalent of "the Great Leap Forward."

As usual, they are keeping the identity of the prospective leaders secret (ummm.. sacred) until the last moment. It is a cheap trick to generate more interest in the whole affair than there would be otherwise.

I was living in that stake when they split it to form two. Back in 70s. It was odd because one building was shared by a ward from each stake, then they made that shared building the stake center for the Olympus stake while still sharing a ward from the North Stake.
