Would somebody mind explainin' to this ignorant gal just why some people think May 21st is gonna be a big hoo-hah? I had heard about Y2K and Dec 2012 but this May thing is a new one to me.

Harold Camping, a radio preacher based out of Oakland, California, named Harold Camping, predicted that in 1994 that the "rapture," or second coming, would happen. When it didn't he admitted that he was wrong in his calculations. Now, thanks to his new calculations, it's actually going to happen on May 21st, 2011 at 6:00PM. He figured it out using the symbolic numbers 5, 10 and 17. If you multiply them all together, then square the result, you get the exact number of days after the crucifiction in which the lard will return. That's tomorrow.

From what I understand, a lot of his followers have quit their jobs and seen as much of the world as they could before it all ends tomorrow.
