Literally 5 minutes ago, I received a call from a number I didn't recognize, so I just let it go to voice mail. 30 seconds later I listened to the message left.

Here's the kicker. The call was for my inactive dad of all of all people from my nephew's cub scout den mother. (Sounded insanely young; can't be more than 25.) This means she got my number from my mom's & my VT, which was given to said VT by my mom.

Fucking hilarious on one level. Annoying as hell on another.

Are they trying to find you a "friend"?

Look at it this way.....Maybe you could influence her in an opposite way that she is hoping to influence you.

SOMETIMES I have sympathy for the cult members. SOMETIMES(I am a bleeding heart) they really think they are helping.

It is annoying when you get your number handed out when you didn't ask for it.

I've done cub scouts before and have called people to ask if they would talk about their profession with my troop. Often a badge or patch requires you to "talk to an Engineer" or "talk to someone with a career in the arts" in order to earn the patch. Had zero to do with Mormonism but sometimes those who'd been in scouts before, even 4 decades before, would be more likely to spare 20 minutes to help little boys earn their badges. And Mormons are most likely to have been scouts once or to sympathize - especially when there is a relative in the troop.

I wouldn't panic... yet!

I just realized that someone might have told her that my dad was a Scout Master in the '70s & early '80s. He hates the BSA, & especially TSCC's version of scouting. He's been inactive for 22 years now anyway.

Their watching ... (Said, looking suspiciously over my shoulder).
