Sending out baptismal announcements that look like a baby announcement?

Is this an old thing? Or is this a new common practice?

Or is our family just pretentious and trying to be self-righteous?????????

But I didn't know an announcement was a thing with TSCC, I mean I spent so many years in there and attended who knows how many baptisms and never once received any sort of announcement

In the Catholic Church it is not unusual to send out invitations to a party or reception for a Baptism/First Eucharist/Confirmation. But only to close friends and family members. I've never heard of other faiths doing so--since parties and receptions don't happen and with Evangelicals Baptisms are kind of on the spot. And Mormons? Usually only wedding announcements.
