The following link will get you to the proof reading guidelines page where you can become a "distributed proof reader" for Project Gutenberg:

http://www.pgdp.net

It is a worthwhile project especially if you have extra time that you can expend and like to read.

Thanks in advance,
Sandie

Sandie, Thanks for the nudge and the link!

I logged on, and registered, and have already proofed five pages of a 1915 German diary of a soldier in the trenches in France. Fascinating!

I hope I can spend 15 or 20 minutes a day helping with these projects.

I gravitate towards the historical and scientific projects. I proof read one on chipmunks. I didn't know much about them until then. :-)

Those 15 to 20 minutes that you have allocated will make a positive impact in the short and long run.

THANKS!

Anything that increases the availability of knowledge for all people is a supremely worthy cause. I didn't know about this project; thanks so much for posting it.

In 1999 I wanted a program on Discovery, History, Learning Channel (can't remember) where eminent scientists and scholars ranked the most important achievement of the past 1,000 years. All the ones you'd expect were there: Einstein, Freud, Newton, Darwin. But Number 1 was Guttenberg. It was his invention of the printing press that spread the Renaissance, encouraged everyone to read, made books and ideas available to all, was a main cause of the Reformation, and is right here with us as we type on our computers.

You did great, Mr. Guttenberg. I'm glad the project is named for you.
