(Rats - dyslexia . . . . again :-\ )

Trainer issues command, if Dog obeys there is a treat; if not, no treat or - if Dog has been extra bad there is Time Out -- sometimes forever.

It is an inexorably dull affair.

Trainer is bored; Dog is bored.
Dog acts only to obtain reward/avoid punishment; and nothing else. Dog therefore develops no other potential innate capacities (e.g. doesn't learn to hunt, fish, read a book, drive a car and deliver pizza) and neither does Trainer develop potentials.
In the end, there is still only Dog who can "sit, stay;" and a bored Trainer who says: "sit, stay."

Substitute "God" for "Trainer," "Human" for "Dog" and there it is - Mormon doctrine stripped of distractors. That's it. The whole enchilada.

How
Absurd!

How is it a creator of this magnificent universe could be content with something so utterly mind-numbingly banal?
It is, on the face of it, on its own, just dumb. It could not possibly get any dumber. Even a supposedly limited intelligence can see the dumbness thereof.

The only reason something like this could be created is to engineer a population that will blindly obey and do as told. Still about control.
Whether that control actively injures or utterly stops the growth and development of a human being is immaterial.

And it is criminal.

(Now -- there ARE -philosophies (for lack of a precise term)- that propose the purpose of being here -for all creatures- is to develop inherent potentials fully. But these don't have a stack of rules and the creator is not a westernized monarch. And these don't get off on control.)

The dogs where you are must be very different from the ones around here:

In lots of situations and cases, I observe a dog showing much more enthusiasm and devotion than the Mormon doG does, and as the Op said....

"Whether that control actively injures or utterly stops the growth and development of a human being is immaterial."
