In 2001, the movie "The Other Side of Heaven" was released, which was the story of John H. Groberg, who'd been a GA, but I don't remember what rank he had. It got pretty good reviews for that kind of movie.

The same crew has made part 2, and it's called The Other Side of Heaven 2: Fire of Faith (which sort of sound like a Dwayne Johnson movie).

I saw parts of the first one which features a very young Anne Hathaway. As picky as I've gotten about going to movies, I probably won't see the 2nd one. Anne isn't in the new one, apparently due to budget issues.

See some reviews of the original movie here:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0250371/reviews?ref_=tt_ov_rt

Some praised it as 'beautiful', others panned it as 'Mormon propaganda.'

You can watch the original movie here, for free:

Don't believe the hype: This is Mormon propaganda!

14 April 2002
I went to see it without knowing anything about it...much to my chagrin, it turned out to be a Mormon movie!!!!! Good lord.

A missionary goes to the pacific islands and converts the islanders, and even makes them wear those short-sleeved dress shirts and ties!!!!

I have a feeling most of the people reviewing it on IMDB went to see it because it's a christian movie, but for those who don't need a sermon, be forewarned!! If you see this movie, you are going to be preached at. I don't need to hear this load of BS any more than the poor samoans need to wear garments!!!!!

I wonder what's left to tell of the story...?

It'll be viewed by a few mormons. Probably nobody else.

I actually really enjoyed this movie, when I ignored all the religious aspects. The scenery is gorgeous and there are some funny and touching parts.

The original movie was pretty good. The Mormonism is very subtle. The movie hardly ever uses the name, and many viewers who know nothing about Mormons would not even realize the movie was about Mormons. They would just view it as the adventures of some Christian missionaries visiting a very wild and remote place and experiencing culture shock, hardships and deprivation, and genuine life-threatening danger from both the natives and from nature.

Now that I know, I won't go see it. I refuse to see anything Mormonish.
