Not sure who on the board originally said this, but I'll admit it.
I was wrong all of those years.
Yes, I was BIC, but at a certain point, I chose to continue to believe. I latched on to the doctrines that fed my own ego while all the other doctrines that I disliked or even made me cringe - I either ignored or created a web of cognitive dissonance simply to enshrine what I liked and place the rest in shadow.
I was lied to my whole life, but I also made conscious efforts to perpetuate those lies within my own life.
I was wrong.
But this quote helped set me free:
"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines."
I was wrong, but I changed my mind.
It's no surprise that much of our lives are better after leaving. We get to change our minds. If something doesn't work for us anymore, we get to be the ones to change it.
I was wrong, but I fixed it.
