The Mormon moment

Much is being made by Mormons of what they perceive as their moment in the sun. Tony-winning Broadway show, Mitt with an early (but unenthusiastic) lead in the polls, maybe Huntsman running, Reid in charge the Senate, Jimmer, various TV show contestants, yadda yadda yadda, all timed with a new advertising campaign telling the world Mormons are normal, possibly even cool. Gee, it's almost like there's some kind of groundswell, a convergence, a big LDS breakthrough into to mainstream consciousness and acceptance! Hallelujah!

Sorry, brothers and sisters, I see it as a random cluster of events, like shaking out a handful of M&Ms and, wow, they're all green.

I wouldn't call the musical a good thing for any mormons

and Huntsman doesn't appear to be TBM.

I was seeing these things as a good thorn in the mormons ass.

Just my opinion, but they are not positive things for the mormons.

Even the joy of Jimmer came at the price of the kid who had to

Mixing religion and politics doesn't leave people loving religion even more.

Mixed blessings is the best they can get.

None the less, I expect it will be only days before the first faith promoting story "John saw the musical, called the missionaries, and converted in 3 weeks'.

I don't think a lot of stories about joining anti-gay churches begin with, "John saw the musical..." Just sayin...
