As its members are hemohhraging from its rank and file in the USA and Europe. Its expansion into Third World countries targeting the most illiterate populations and hardest hit of the impoverished to take from them their first fruit offerings to replace those of the dwindling population back home. That is unconscionable in its own right. There isn't really much left to hold onto anymore, certainly not any gospel doctrine.

Joseph didn't invent Christianity. He hijacked it.

As the children of generational Mormons are finding out, it was all one big whitewashed lie. The intelligentsia have by and large most of them (not all of them,) up and left TSCC. It has resulted in a brain drain from the cult that cannot and will not be replaced by incoming members or converts.

There has been a 'dumbing down' in TSCC since the 1970's. Which is in part why the hard liners have had more room to take hold. It's the members who have stayed who don't ask the hard questions of their leaders. But a cult cannot sustain itself on such membership for long, because they will die off. And there won't be anyone left to replace them, or to retain.

There is no room inside TSCC for intelligent, questioning minds. That's why a cult that prides itself on having the one and only way to happiness and everlasting truth is finding out its days are numbered. Because truth does not exist in a vacuum. Ideas and knowledge should be encouraged and pursued. Making excuses for the indefensible and Mormon apologetics will not bring back the lost sheep of the fold. For they have found greener pastures on the other side of that fence.

Truth is brutal! It doesn't care what you want it to be. It is what it is. If you tell what you percieve to be the truth at all times your circle of "friends" will diminish considereably. However the number of peope who respect you wil grow exponentially. IMHO

Mormonism cannot hold a candle to whatever constitutes 'truth.'

On its face and historically it was founded by a charlatan. Not a prophet.

Thanks for your insights. Your last remark reminds me of a quote made famous by past president Ronald Reagan, "It's nice to be liked. It's better to be respected."

:)
