I found the graphics (the four colored maps of the US) interesting. Click on Figure 1 once the pdf comes up.

Doesn't seem that the WoW is a discriminator....

The thing that really struck me is that, overall, the states that have the worst life expectancies are in the traditional Bible Belt. It's not quite so bad for males but for females - WOW! Life expectancy is disheartening to say the least. Apparently all those prayers aren't helping much.

As for Utah, same thing. Clearly, the priesthood holders fare better than the sisters. Must be keeping the women-folk barefoot and pregnant is fine for the men but for the women - not so much.

I think that Florida is probably easiest to explain. A lot of seniors move there during retirement, which probably skews the life expectancy way up.

Another funny thing is that it generally looks like the more liberal(democrat) an area, the higher the life expectancy. Look at Texas for example, the highest expectancies are centered around Austin.
