Existing hospitals are overwhelmed, and emergency hospitals are being thrown up. All transit has been shut down in and around the affected areas. Roads are being blocked with berms, walls, and even dumptruck loads of rock and dirt. Reports say they have no idea of how many infected people there may be because of insufficient testing kits and apparatus.
China will, of course, try to censor news, but they are apparently acting. Hopefully, not too little too late.

And when the panic is over, nothing ever happens. The food storage and water is still sitting there unused. Which means money is wasted. There will never be a real food shortage in the United States. People freakout about nothing.
Meanwhile two early-teens students at an Ogden "military academy" died of the flu a couple days ago. Two different flu strains, which I thought was interesting and worrisome. This year's flu strains seem nastier than usual.
Wash hands and keep them away from your face. Good advice regardless of the virus.
Usually here in Maryland, when the flu hit you either hear a consistent "the vaccine worked" or "the vaccine didn't work," i.e. officials didn't include the right strain.) This year the reports are mixed, and yes, the flu does appear to be nastier than the norm.
The young man is a Wuhan citizen. Here are the points that he makes:
-Public transportation is shut down. Gas stations are closed (he heard this, he hasn't personally seen this.) A certain number of streets are blocked to traffic by any means necessary (he said that even dump loads of dirt and rock are being used.) -The local government was very slow to react to the outbreak. -Emergency phone lines (the equivalent of our 911) are overwhelmed. You can't get through. People who have other health issues such as a heart attack can not get help. -Hospitals are overwhelmed. They have run out of test kits and the means to test. They do not appear to have adequate treatments. People who arrive at hospitals are being sent home, and are being told to isolate themselves. -He remembers the 2003 SARS outbreak. He feels that this new corona virus outbreak is as bad or worse than that event. -He interjects some personal opinions. He feels that some people who have the virus are asymptomatic (i.e. they are are going through an incubation period.) He also questions the method of transmission, that perhaps it is not solely respiratory, but can be picked up by any wet surface such as the eyes.
Toronto is working on confirming its first case. The guy travelled here from Wuhan on the 22nd. I thought there was a travel ban in effect. He showed mild symptoms during the flight. Why was he allowed to leave at all?
He got to Toronto and then checked himself into the hospital the next day. The paramedics didn't know. That makes me angry.
O yeah, you can't bring nail clippers or full size bottle of shampoo on an airplane, but you sure as heck can travel out of biohazard city into a clean city.
They should ban all flights out of Wuhan, but the government is too busy being politically correct. Sheesh. What a joke.
Meanwhile, something like 90 Americans, who had been staying in the embassy, are being flown home. Who knows if some of them have been exposed. Saw a report of about ten confirmed cases in California.

You and your fetish for always starting fights and insisting on having the last word. I still am not sure if you are a woman or just a very opinionated man.
The man arrived in Toronto a week ago. His wife was also infected but no one else on the plane has subsequently been diagnosed with the disease. The third case flew in via another flight.
We have a case in my local hospital. Woman returned after a visit to Wuhan, but before the airport screening started. She’s said to be doing well. She’s in isolation. Let’s hope it ends there. Just discharged my mom from that hospital hours before the press conference announcing the confirmed case. Scary. Poor people in China.
