Will someone tell me when humans got the power and ethical right to kill insects, bacterium, viruses and other life forms? Trillions of gnats, flies, bees and wasps are slaughtered annually by motorists who believe the need for speed trumps a bug's family.
God said THOU SHALT NOT KILL. Well, why do we think nothing as we buy Raid, mousetraps, fly traps and fish hooks?
They're more radical than vegans. Anything that might cause pain to a living thing is avoided, including plants that might harbor eggs or bacteria. They're mendicants, meaning beggars--they prefer food that was prepared by somebody else, so they do not participate in the negative karma of something that might have suffered during food preparation or cooking.
I don't think they'd partake of beer or french fries, as that involves cooking, and thus the abuse of bacteria. Perhaps their ideal food would be fruit that just fell off the tree or bush--before any bugs or bacteria got on it.
