I think it would be interesting to write a script for a movie that starts in 1834, with Joseph Smith getting elected as commander-in-chief of the Armies of Israel by the Kirtland high council. Right before the Kirtland Bank Failure.

It would be interesting to relate it to our current existential/constitutional crisis, and how it gets resolved, with Mormons, like Romney and his supporters, factoring VERY heavily in the outcome of our experiment in democracy, given their heavy influence on National politics and Intelligence agencies.

I'm reading a book right now called "death valley in 49" It's all about a young mans true adventure on his trip to the California gold mines and his experience around the Mormons. He was absolutely terrified of them, that they were going to steal all his stuff and kill him, There were all kinds of stories during this time period, It looks to me like no one liked the Mormons, in fact they even had their own Mormon trail on the North side of the Platte where everyone else traveled on the South end of Platte. But because of his stubbornness he left the Mormons on route to San Bernadino and accidentally blazed his own trail through Death Valley! And it was horrible!

It's true that BY had his danites do his dirty business, but I'm thinking Most of the stories were just big talk.
