I’m not real close to her or her family (10 siblings!).

She writes a letter weekly on the website for missionaries; I read it occasionally.

This week, she talks about not being able to touch animals, or a hug anyone.

She adds that at least she can read the Scriptures.

I feel like telling her: “Why don’t you go back home to NC and help your parents and your 10 siblings deal with this crisis in a real way.

Do I dare?

Yes, why doesn't she go back home? They should all be home.

But did she say why she can't touch animals. They are having a lot of pets taken to shelters because they think their pets can give them the virus. From the info I've read, our pets can't give us the virus and there is no way my dogs would end up in a shelter anyway.

There’s the possibility of transferring germs via the fur where people have petted. The hosts where we are camped have to wear gloves to pet dogs here. We are no longer letting people pet our dog in case they or we are infected. Doggie is sad about that because he loves people.
As of now, there’s not a concern of dog/human infection.

Yes. There is nothing to lose. Time to stop giving Mormons a pass.

And you will be saving her from the absolute boredom that we all know "the scriptures" are since the only function they serve is if one is out of Ambien.

She’s in Alamosa. Very small place - looks like it’s about as far south in Colorado as you can get, close to the border of New Mexico. I would guess that she’s pretty virus-safe there, but her family probably could use her help back home in North Carolina.

Another relative of mine has a missionary son who has already come home early from the Philippines, due to the virus. Someone told me that ALL missionaries are going back home now - true? Maybe it’s only international.

Crazy times for everyone right now.

I like Alamosa but the entire San Luis valley is strong catholic.

From what I've heard, only those missionaries in countries that are kicking out all foreigners are being sent home. Those in domestic missions are most likely being told to stay in their apartments for the time being.

I really don’t know, but I’ve always thought she was in the Denver area. They do move around occasionally.

You should.

No one to show her the severity of the situation.

Reading scriptures/ Mormoning will get her nowhere.

Walking, meditating, writing letters, listening to (real) music, reading (good lit./ art/ history...), communicating with strangers/ familiars in a Normal, Natural, NON-CoVid-19-way, shape or form!

Best of luck-

I think you should tell her to go home. I live in Colorado Springs, we have 1100 cases hear. Mandatory stay at home order starts at 6am.

Hopefully she won't be offended.

name of the town she lived in. I visited her there a few times.

My neighbor's daughter was sent home from stateside as she has asthma and the church felt kids with immune compromise should be home. Her daughter is not happy. One of my aunt's sets of twins has made it home both from overseas. Her SIL and daughter just sent off their missionaries. He is the MP. It was quite a task to get them all on the planes and out of remote places. They are at the far tip of South America. They only have 6 native missionaries left. I don't know if they will be coming home or not.
