I remember the annual audit report

It went something like this
A member of the ecclesiastical hierarchy stood behind the pulpit in a general conference session and said (along these lines)
We did an internal audit and found the accounts to be in balance.
All in favor lift you right hand and say aye!
That was the extent of openness about the money.
I thought that they were lying. It is one of the things that caused me to question the validity of the faith.
How about you?

A real audit requires a separate, unrelated, objective entity to review the books and records to issue a reliable opinion.

I was always suspicious of the results of the "audit".
