Since GAs have more than slightly hinted that all wayward kids, even unruly ones focused on in general conferences, will all return to the fold by feeling the hands of divinity seeking out after them, why then are we doing baptisms for the dead?

If Adam is the Father of all living, every person on this earth has been effectively born in the covenant. The above doctrine would then apply to each and every one of them. The LDS church is baptizing all people who have died including those who were mentally disabled, died before the age of 8, not to mention all humanity being born of the covenant.

Surely, there would be more discernment? It is almost as if they are just running off of slips of paper printed, acting for and in behalf of: A. Person - who is dead.

Catholics used to pay the church to say prayers in behalf of the dead, out of concern for their dead relative's salvation.

Likewise if we are baptizing people multiple times, almost making a mockery of it, for those that have been saved multiple times over, what are the ends LDS, inc. is seeking if these are the means?

Not quite. RCs say prayers for the dead, but if you aren't baptize, you can't go to heaven. Unbaptized babies go to limbo when they die... No second chance like Mormonism.

Catholics do not baptize for the dead, and they do not need to pay a priest to say prayers for the dead. They are perfectly capable of praying for the welfare of both their living and deceased relatives on their own, and in fact this is a fairly standard part of a Catholic's bedtime prayers.

It is normal in Catholic churches to hold mass every day, usually in the early morning. A Catholic can request that their deceased loved one be remembered in prayer at such a mass. It's customary, but not required, to give a small donation to the church in return, perhaps $10 or so. Catholics can also light candles in church while they pray for their loved ones, and will put a small donation in a nearby box when they do this.

As for the unbaptized, modern Catholic thinking entrusts those souls to the mercy of God. See the following Wiki:
