Deseret Industries is one of the few businesses in Utah that has not reopened.

Two main thriftstores in Layton are enjoying an influx of donations and shoppers from mormons that would never have darkened their doorway if DI was open.

As a result I get to hear some interesting comments from mormons comparing the two stores.

Today it took all I could muster to not laught my mask off.

A mormon was looking at books in the religous section of Goodwill. There were quite a few Mormon books but mixed in were some books of other religions.

The shopper was browsing through a book entitled "Encyclopedia of the Saints" she was obviously bewildered. She finally said to her husband. "I don't understand this book! It says Encyclopedia of Saints and I can't find Joseph or Brigham or any of the saints I know. I think this book is flawed!"

There's also a grisly book about how all of the saints died. I can't remember the title. Anyway, that's damn funny!

Somewhere there is a Catholic high school whose mascot is the Martyr.

"Go, Martyrs!"

I'd like to hear a comparison of the features, decor, service, & prices of the two establishments AND the pay scales of the workers...

And if you're in Philly, go the the Bryn Mawr Hospital Thrift Shop. Talbot's camel hair coat for $30. Yep. Thirty bucks.

Skip Main Line estate sales for your sparkly needs. Go to the Bryn Mawr Hospital Thrift Shop. Get ready to rumble.

I guess that Joseph and Brigham and their ilk were not very saintly? That is such a cute story!
