"Attorneys for the man announced a lawsuit Thursday in Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix against the church, the Grand Canyon Council of the Boy Scouts of America, a Scoutmaster, a Scout and church leader and Bishop Floyd Dean Davis.


When he was 15, the victim said he told Davis about the abuse. According to him, the bishop took no action to remove either man from his role or notify others.
Davis then allegedly told the victim he would be ex-communicated if he told anyone outside the church about the allegations."

I think the recent changes to the handbook states that leaders should strongly advise victims of abuse to contact the law.

I don't think that it says leaders are OBLIGATED to report what is being confessed.

The church really doesn't take action until it is threatened through litigation.

Remember the long standing policy of consulting church lawyers before giving testimony at a trial.

Having been emotionally abused during my formative years I have 0 0 0 tolerance for any kind of abuse.
One of my daughters was so mentally abused by her former spouse that she can no longer make beneficial decisions.
Abuse is a contagious disease

Not just abuse. Anything that would tarnish the church name. I caught a higher ranking church leader stealing construction funds from the church and was told to shut up or else.

They want the dog to STAY in the church.

People need to let it out.
