Facebook/Twitter. OT

A couple of Facebook threads got me thinking. So here's my Luddite question of the week: what's the difference between Facebook and Twitter? And what exactly is a "tweet"? Is it a post, an email?

Am I the only intelligent, educated adult in the known universe who doesn't know these things?
