I was just going to go out my kitchen door to get my newspaper, and there he was. About 5' tall, completely white, and never said a word (later, I realized that he probably didn't speak because he had no physical voice to speak with).

Still on my two steps entry, he looked over my shoulder--and I looked over my shoulder also to see what he might have been looking at--and I saw nothing unusual

Later, I surmised, he maybe was just curious as to what the inside of my house looked like.

Then I gained courage as to how to send him on his away.

As it so happened, there was a metal pan lid on my kitchen counter, which I picked up, and slammed back down on the counter. (I suppose he couldn't hear it, but it gave me more courage.)

Next, I told him, "In the name of Jesus Christ, I demand you to disappear and never return again", at which point he did just as he was instructed to do, and disappeared.

One theory of ghosts is that they are time slips or some kind of recording, so going through a door is what they used to do. My parents' house supposedly had a ghost, which would go through a former door every day at a certain time... which was blocked off by the time my parents moved in there.

Be nice to 'ghosts'!!! I have never seen those passed appear that way, but I would have tried to communicate with him vocally or using telepathy.

It probably sensed your fear and left. Ghosts are telepathic so you can communicate with them if you want. Otherwise they are like regular people. Some good, some bad. Most have attachments here that keep them hanging around.

Now that they know that you can see them, word might get around and you could see more ghosts. If it was me, I would try to get them to prank my friends.

If it's only been a week then how do you know this "ghost" may not return? Now I know of two missionaries and a branch president who were on the top of a mountain and saw two beings who appeared to them. Not ghosts, and they were told not to tell anyone after their told the mission president and stake president. One of them told me before he died. So here were three Latter-day Saints praying on a mountain and had a "vision of two beings?"

Hair dryers work really well too or a strong electric fan. The War in Heaven was actually fought that way. That's why spirits are so afraid of Jesus. He had a really big air hose and compressor and satan only had a Chinese paper hand fan. It was never a fair fight.

Lamanites had an unfair advantage with their gas powered leaf blowers.

Fight or Flight-

I would usually flight, but once, while reading a book on - and practicing - Lucid Dreaming, I became aware of the fact that I was in a dream when this "monster"/ beast/ "scary deamon"/ whatever appeared, and, prepared, I let out a ROAR/ Warning Shout/ whatever, which, scaring the 'shiFt' out of the beast, sending it running in the other direction.

I haven't had any scary or intimidating/ wake-up/ almost awakening dreams in a great many years.

Now I mostly fly, or lose or find things, meet incredible people (like in real life, sometimes), or (good?) friends/ family/ like family "strangers".

I think "JESUS CHRIST", though us, is fine, and whichever tool we have is fine.

I (think I) use my VOICE and ARMS... because You Can't Always Rely On Your Legs. Everyone knows that.

We just have to be greater than the beast, sometimes, like if/ when facing a bear, or other scenario, when we have to become greater than our attacker/ demon/ conflict/ experience/ episode/ scene/ scary person...

When my father started to see ghosts, it turned out to be intraocular damage including floaters and retinal detachment.

In my mother’s case, she has visual hallucinations in her right field of vision, even though that side was affected by a stroke.
