I watched the movie "Ivan The Terrible" last night and was struck by this phrase.
http://movie.subtitlr.com/subtitle/show/107265
"O... Tsar, the Lord's anointed"

Is the term, "the Lord's anointed" historically used in a royal sense? Makes sense to me.

LDS Inc. is a place to become literally "the Lord's anointed" or in other words royalty. Replace "state" with "religion" and while not as tied to heredity and political power, LDS Inc. royalty is tied to family ties and religious political power. Just look at how LDS leaders have used their being granted royal powers in their political shenanigans. Just like Joseph. They have utilized industry and political machinations to "bless" their "anointed" status' into a form of royalty. Like Catholics of the past, Mormons of the present have their royals in all kinds of alliances within their church and these United States.

Funny how the road to royalty of any kind is paved with the sufferings of others. Anointing one man over another doesn't seem to me like "God's will."

In ancient Russia the Tzar needed the Orthodox Church's support and vice-versa; legitamacy was a big problem because Rus' (as it was known then) was wedged between the Mongols to the East, the German Knights to the West, and the Ottomans far to the South. The country was still not completely Christian; there were many serfs who lived double lives as Orthodox Christians during the day, Slavic pagans at night. So the Czar HAD to express Orthodox Christian sentiments, even if he did not truly believe, and give the Church X amount from the national treasury. In return the Church declared the Tsar "the Lord's annointed", "defender of the faith" and all that other verbiage. Does it have anything to do with Christianity? No; it is a founding myth of a state, and Christ himself would not recognize his own faith in it.

But...I wonder if you replaced a few words how it would read...
Legitimacy is a big problem because LDS Inc. Execs are wedged between the many different versions of Christianity. The world is still not completely Christian; there were many people who lived double lives as Christians during the day, disbelievers and doubters at night. So the Prophet HAS to express Orthodox Mormon sentiments, even if he does not truly believe, and give the Church X amount in the form of temples, buildings and budgets. In return the Church declares the president and his board of directors "the Lord's annointed", "special witnesses of Jesus Christ" and all that other verbiage. Does it have anything to do with Christianity? No; it is the myth of Mormonism that it is led by prophets, and Christ himself would not recognize his own faith in it.

LOL!
