Yes, he made incredibly offensive remarks about racial issues. But let us not overlook the fact that he (1) ridiculed disaffected members/ex-members, (2) disparaged every other religious system in the world, and (3) (IMO the worst part) was reinforcing the party line about women's chances in the church (snowballs in hell, in case you're wondering). This happened when he was telling his (obviously fabricated) story about his kids playing "Church", and his dismay when his daughter tried to pass the sacrament. Clearly this man is deranged. And yet he gets to be in charge when the people on this and other sites get kicked in the teeth every time we try to speak out.

I interpreted his remark about his daughter passing the sacrament as the sacrament being imitated in a children's game and therefore profaned. I didn't think to think that he would think that it was more offensive that she was the wrong sex. Wow. She's a child. That's how it starts, isn't it? The pausing when you wonder whether you've done something wrong, and then the social cues and overt lecturing that yes you did do something wrong -- you assumed you were more or less equal to the people you were imitating -- and it makes you feel terrible, and then you start to contemplate this new truth off and on in all the years to come.
