Rhubarb and Gooseberries

I just picked a bunch of both and was wondering if anyone had ever tried mixing them together in a pie.

I could only find one recipe for the combination online; it was an heirloom recipe from Australia.

Never tried baking such a thing, but I'd be the first volunteer in line to try some.

Definitely tart, but if you like that (and I do) a very interesting combination. Quite tasty!

I ended up experimenting with a whole-grain pastry flour for the crust. I wouldn't put it up against white flour for an example of my best pastry, but it actually held up nicely against the strong flavor of the filling.

They are the red berry variety.
