My mom, who doesn't really know what she's doing :) when navigating fb, claims there is an official ad from the church, offering to settle with alleged victims of abuse.
My fb feed doesn't insert any church related ads so I can't tell if this is genuine, however I can see the church offering to "settle" as a way to dismiss and silence victims.
The first was a big media blitz to victims of abuse through scouting. There was a deadline so they were pretty aggressive.
Since that time I've nit seen one connected to scouting.
The second ad was about some revision to the statute of limitations for abuse. The ad specifically says the Mormon or Catholic church. I haven't seen it in some time.
While both ads specifically say abuse by the Mormon church neither were sponsored by the church.
The ad had the official logo of the church, not just an ad using pictures of Mormon landmarks. However, my mom also clicked on those ads as well, which caused the Meta marketing to send a church sponsored ad.
Yeah, that's not a church advertisement. Nowhere does it use a church logo or indicate that it is church-approved.
It also refers openly to MormonLeaks and data it published against Mormon interests; one that I believe the church sued. There's no way the church would bring more attention to such a website.
I started the "consultation" application. That's a law firm seeking clients.
