Just noticed this. Very Sad. He was from Salt Lake City.

He was a 42-year old mormon from Utah with mental illness who worked at DI.

But yes, it is very sad for all involved.

I'm not sure he was a Mormon. In his vlogs, he talked about learning the religion for his wife but never explicitly said he was a member of the church.

Do you know if I am wrong?

On his website there is this about his grandfather
"He was an LDS branch president/bishop. All of this information (Oklahoma, Marine Corps and Vietnam War) would be available either on our LDS membership records or through internet searches."

There is also this
"She didn't want me to leave there because while I was working at night I would listen to scriptures and conference talks on my phone. I was fasting weekly and trying to gain a testimony of the LDS church. I don't believe she wanted to give up the hope that gave her."
That could certainly be interpreted either way.

Yes, that's the stuff to which I was referring and I agree it is ambiguous.

Prayer and scripture study didn’t cure his mental illness?

Unfortunately universities tend to be a very bad environment for triggering mental illness. I think it comes from a lot of factors – an emotionally cold/alienated environment, cognitive dissonance with some of what is being taught, high pressure and abusive groups on campus.

He seemed to be very troubled.

Very sad situation.
