They make great settings for TV shows and movies. If people just left life and death up to God we wouldn't even have had M*A*S*H. No Hot Lips Hoolihan. That would be a tragedy.
The Christian Scientists' whole religion is based on that. The "Science" is "medical intervention", and they believe that God's miracles are where the real health care lies. As do all those essential oil Mormons and chiropractic Mormons and Consecrated Oil Mormons and Jodi Hildebrandt and Lori Vallow and Tara Westover's parents and on and on and on. They don't need no stinking diplomas- all they need is their Priesthood Line of Authority cards. Dependent on your faith, of course, for all those times when it didn't work. So yes, Mormonism once again tries to have it both ways to win no matter what.

If you get a priesthood blessing and live, it's a faith promoting story. If you die, you were needed on the other side. The bishop will talk about the plan of salvation at your funeral.
Russell M Nelson was a sellout for going to medical school and then using medical technologies rather than his priesthood authority to treat patients.
Here's the thing. God also gives people the intelligence to develop ways to help repair people when they're injured, or to treat them when they're sick. It would be saying that you're not supposed to use the intelligence that God gave you.
A lot more people would die, who otherwise wouldn't, if they seek medical help. Does that change the date that they were supposed to die?
