I've heard from multiple sources that Steve Benson just had a stroke and has passed away...is this true? Can someone who is friends with him confirm this? If it is, this is tragic news.

One day he was there, the next day he was gone.

Look after yourself and please watch your health.

Glad to know Steve is still with us.

Thanks for the good news link, devoted.

I imagine Steve quoting Mark Twain in reply: "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated".

Good to know that Steve is still fighting whatever life throws in his path.

I hope that he and Claire are feeling our good thoughts and well wishes for them both.

AZCrazy: Maybe you could tell those multiple sources that they are mistaken in the message they're sending.

Thank goodness.

(I won't say 'thank God' as, uh, hey, it's Steve!)

I wish Steve 40 years of wonderful (semi?) retirement (and Claire).

WheW!! So glad to hear the reports of his death were greatly exaggerated! God speed!(or whatever)

FYI- The sources were both former colleagues of Steve's at the AZ Rep...go figure!

Working at a newspaper you'd think they'd triple-check their sources!

The more you know about newspapers the less reliable they seem.

I've seen them make many mistakes.

Wait a minute. After all the lecturing AZCrazy gave us in the Gilbert Goons thread about unverified innuendo, (s)he says the sources are two former colleagues at the AZ Republic.

And we're just supposed to swallow that? Are they still at the AZ Republic? If not, it is a cheap shot to blame the newspaper somehow. Who did they hear it from?

Did one of them hear it from the other? If so, then it is really just one source. And how do we know they are the sources? Because you said so?

I'd like to hear the "source"s side of the story.

I learned a lot of things that I couldn't possibly have known without reading what he had learned.

Steve Benson sure has given us a lot of insight when posting here. He was a big help to me.

I lost a brother because he wasn't going to the doctor and getting regular checkups. He had high blood pressure and didn't know it. That resulted in a fatal heart attack.

His high blood pressure could have been dealt with if he knew he had it. He was not overweight but on one side of my family high blood pressure starts to show up later in life. It's a genetic thing. My dad had a stoke because he had high blood pressure.

Go for a yearly checkup even if you feel well.

A lot of pharmacies have blood pressure machines just sitting in their reception area, free to use. But yeah, get an annual physical. It screens for lots of other things.

You also want to have blood work done. Both my wife and sister had cancer diagnosed early and so far it’s still in remission. Sometimes you don’t know you have a problem until it’s too late. You want to diagnose problems early.
