I hate it when bad guys like Mussolini agree with me.

Surely someone else who was not a murderous dictator said something similar.

Very likely so. There is no shortage of people expressing negative opinions about religions and those who practice them. No need to delve into the cesspit of the worst of all humanity in the known history of the universe to come up with a source.

Mussolini sounds like a seafood pasta dish.

At least Joseph Smith wasn't hung. Okay maybe he was, just in a different way.

He wasn't wrong about that. Nowadays we give people meds if they have visions.

He had a second life as a pinata.

Mussolini and a certain political figure are one and the same. Have you ever seen them together?

Using a mass murderer's words to prop up a dissenting opinion about a fellow human's chosen beliefs is giving him more credence than he deserves. By far. Surely there are countless better arguments in favour of atheism.

Agree, but I thought he was only talking about "Saints" there. I thought that probably only meant official "Saints" of the Catholic Church. I can think of a couple who might qualify as insane.

I can also think of plenty of atheists who I think are insane, and that might include myself. :-)

Has his temple work been done?

Does anybody care?

(I mean - about his eternal salvation or whatever).

Benito could have repented and been found worthy to join the church posthumously. Maybe his eternal salvation matters then. I mean, if eternal salvation or any other Mormon hogwash were an actual thing.

I thought Mormons do the temple work and let God sort them out.

How would you feel if you were the proxy for a brutal dictator/mass murderer? I'd hope such a practice would propel me to get out of Dodge. As it was, I left anyway for much more benign reasons.

Yeah, dagny, that's the way I read it too - the official saints. But (1) I despise the source of the quote and (2) He has some nerve calling others insane and (3) It's a disparaging word anyway - hopefully most people can use kinder language re that realm.

I agree that some people throughout history and down to our day do suffer from delusions of a religious nature.

I'm just looking at it very literally. From a nurse's perspective I guess.

Oops - I meant to post this below dagny's reply above. Also, indeed atheists are not immune.

It's a people thing iow.
