I wished this was not necessary, but there is a cost to running this site on a dedicated server with backups. I am trying to get the costs reduced. I just paid $800 out of my own pocket to get us close to up to date on the cost. I do not want to do that again.
If you can, would you go to the bottom of the main page and donate via Paypal or use the link above. You can also send a check to: WingNET // PO Box 2605 // Cleveland TN 37320-2605 with a note it is for exmormon.org. The check needs to be made out to Caldwell Communications and not wingnet. My paypal account is erickett@wingnet.net
The site is not as busy as it was 20 years ago so donations are slower. I wish to keep it running and I believe many others do as well.
Thanks
Eric

I know this is a busy time and many are getting hit with political donations, non-profits etc. If we can at least get us to early 2025 in donations I will relax over keeping the site online.
sbg: It's great if people can contribute but please don't feel obligated as it's a give if you can kind of thing. Hopefully, there are enough of us in the latter category to keep the lights on. Everybody's still welcome whether they can help out or have to sit this one out.
I just talked to our ISP. Our cost is now reduced by more than half. If we can get $1.1 k in contributions, it will cover our outstanding invoice and hopefully all of 2025. Anything above $1.1k will allow me to recover some of the $800 I paid. It is a legacy system that is more expensive to run.
There is so much out there now to support exmos. A huge portion of those sites, organizations, podcasts, meetups most certainly owe their origins to this site.
Check in the mail.

You don't have to feel obligated, LL. Hopefully, those who can will step up. But everybody's still welcome to come around here.
IMHO anyway - I think that's how it goes.
I appreciate all those who have donated through the years. I've enjoyed this board very much. In the early days when I first came (recommended by an exmo) it helped me to see that I wasn't losing my mind after all (despite having been silly enough to join the M church for an instant in time).
I've made some great friends here - and I've even met some of them face-to-face :-D
The level of debate is high (and sometimes even over my head ;-)
Although I'm a nevermo, my life would be much the poorer if RfM disappeared, and at the moment I can afford it. That may change with my circumstances but there's no obligation. It's not like tithing ;-)
I was going to say hi to you SM but got rudely interrupted at that moment.
You are very generous to donate when you are a nevermo and also don't take up much space around here.
Should I ever find the guts to climb onto an airplane again (it happens about once a decade or less) and happily end up in Paris ever again I'd love to say thanks in person. And maybe sample some French wine while we're at it.
Re RfM debates - I find it necessary to do a quick bout of research on a continual basis after reading some of the posts and opinions. But it's all good. Keeps us sharp.
Hope you're enjoying yourself swanning around Paris. What's not to like! Take care over there, though. What would we do without our Man in Paris?!
Lucky you, SM! I'm debating my retirement date. Maybe '26 or '27. It took me twenty-five years of teaching to build up to a decent income, and I'm reluctant to abandon it now. But OTOH I'm not getting any younger, either, and I would like to travel.
I will do what I can when I can. Bills suck. But money is what makes the world go round. This place has been a tremendous help in my transition out, and the continued lunacy that ensues.
Might not be until next year. I know it's not tithing, but as a token of appreciation towards the whole board. You all are my buddies. I love all the discussions, even if they are short, and the board is not as full.
This place bailed me big time, when I left the confines of that place. Big props to Eric K, and all the admins.

Eric, If there are not enough donations to maintain the site for next year, is it possible to have the info, wisdom, and help put into a read only website? Even that seems like a major undertaking. However as read only it wouldn’t need constant attention.
When you started it there was no where for those in need to go! Even in the late 90s when i found the site, there was few places of quality to get help.
Now with more options on the internet maybe it is time to save the information for people to see.
I do not know enough about setting it up, but might be an option. Just an idea.
every little bit helps. BTW, I check this board much less often now. I do spend much more time over at exmo reddit.
P.S. I think about Richard Packham quite often. He, Eric and Concrete Zipper are foundational to RfM. And Kudos to all others who've added to the content and quality over the years!
I think of Richard and Kathy Worthington often Cricket. I think about you too :) I always wonder if you went to Burning Man and what other crazy things you are up to. We certainly have seen a lot and known a lot of wonderful, dedicated people.
Just one more bump (or two at most) to see if we can get to $1100. Yes, I paid quite a bit myself. Fortunately we are comfortable in retirement though I do not wish to pay that much again. Not paying tithing for 25 years made all the difference in our financial situation. I am always delighted when I see folks take control of their lives and leave the cult.
I sent a donation just now. This board was my lifeline when I went through a traumatic time. Meeting Eric and Richard Packham and others at an exmo conference in Vegas soon after this board was up and running in the late 90's was the exact thing I needed to move forward and leave mormonism. Thank you for keeping this going for us old timers!
Donated. When a family member got sexually molested by an active high priest LDS Scoutmaster this message board told me to go to the police and report it all I did was go to the bishop. Well, I went to the police and I reported it. The lds Scoutmaster went to prison for a different person he sexually molested.I made sure to mail out a letter to every branch and ward in Germany, Austria and Switzerland informing them about the lds Scoutmaster.
Wow thanks! I will leave this up through the weekend. We should be good for a long time now. I hope to renew the site during the winter.
I play in 4 groups (sax and clarinet) and fill in with other bands a few times per month in addition to my regulars. It is time for me to slow down. I will be 73 in a few weeks and getting a bit tired. Will stay with the university groups and help students. Music is a great hobby for old farts like myself. Will be doing a solo show for a wedding reception on Saturday. Tuxedo required. I make a few hundred plus a nice dinner for an hour of playing. Solo shows at nursing facilities I do for free and have a few coming up - daytime gigs. I have a German gig on the 23rd (clarinet for polkas and German tunes). I play bass clarinet in a performance on the 22nd at a university. Alto sax at a community college too this month. So it is busy.
