Utah self-reports as very happy, Drug companies report the use of antidepressants in Utah as higher than average.

Ignore what they say. Watch what they do.

Alma 41:10 “Wickedness never was happiness.”
An unhappy Mormon might just as well admit to wickedness. Smile and say you’re happy to “avoid the appearance of evil.” “Be ye therefore perfect” and your cup runneth over with bliss.

There is evidence of Utahns being on meds. I am one, my exwife was another, but she stopped them because they 'made her feel weird'. She ended up taking her meds, and flushing them down the garbage disposal.

I guess judgement of people is better than meds. No wonder why she doesn't believe in mental illness. It's easier to judge apparently.

I'm not sure if the happiness is genuine. I remember being at a church activity with my ex-wfe. The activity was very juvenile but everybody would tell each other, "Isn't this fun?"

Hawaii has a much lower divorce rate than Utah does.

What is your basis for saying that, GNPE?

As far as I can tell Hawaii doesn't report that data. The closest the public reports allow one to get is the percentage of a state's total population that is divorced, and by that measure Utah does better than Hawaii: 0.08% versus 0.07%.

Yet if Utah has a higher proportion of young people relative to old, as might make sense given the church's emphasis on reproduction, perhaps Utah's figure is deceptively positive. In either case, though, any difference would probably be slight.

In short, I don't think the available information supports a conclusion either way.

I was confused for a second. Salt Lake is a neighborhood in Hawaii.
