Legend of Enoch

This is what convinced me to leave TSCC, the Legend of Enoch.

Enoch buries sacred precious records in a big stone box in Mt Moriah. And wasn't JS's brother a mason by 1830?

Combine that with the Detroit manuscript, where a partner of JS's uncle in 1823 discovers a buried manuscript in a language no one can read. It is written in many odd, hieroglyphic-like symbols:

Throw in a bunch of bible quotes, language straight from the day's newspapers about Catholic distrust, religious revivals, tent meetings, revolutionary war stories, a bunch of local names, the current curiosity about Indian origins, the View of the Hebrews.

Presto! You couldn't come up with anything except the Book of Mormon.

By the time I read that, I was quite pissed but also relieved to discover JS was no prophet, but a plagiarist who stole all his best material from the Masons.
